About Run & Wander

A passion for travel

I’ve always loved exploring new places — wandering through city streets, taking photographs, and trying the local food. A city break gives me the perfect chance to see somewhere new and dive into its culture, even if it’s just for a few days.

A love of parkrun

I’ve been parkrunning for more than 10 years. I started at my local event in the UK, continued while living in Malaysia, and eventually realised I could combine my two passions: travel and running.

Why combine them?

For me, parkrun is more than a 5k. It’s a chance to start a Saturday morning with energy, meet locals and expats, and hear stories that make a place feel alive. Joining a parkrun adds a new layer to a city break: not just sights, food, and culture — but also a shared run with people who call that place home.

The challenges (and the fun)

Like many parkrun tourists, I enjoy the challenges — ticking off letters of the alphabet, visiting events in new countries, chasing milestones. I’ll never compare with the top parkrunners, but that’s not the point. I do them for the joy of discovery, and the satisfaction of weaving my travels together with the parkrun journey.
